Season Review Week: The wingers and forwards

 

Season Review Week continues today on agapefloorball.wordpress.com with further analysis of a successful 2010 season for Agape.

Here, Agape’s coach concludes his review of the squad with a look at the players who leads the attack for the team.

WINGERS / CENTRES

The engine room of the team, Denisse has played a pivotal role in this season, notching up 16 goals and 7 assists to lead the scoring chart. Her technical abilities has allowed her to out-dribble and out-smart many opponents and contributed significantly to the team. She also manages to support both the offence and defence elements of the team.

Hui Yan plays as a centre for Agape and she has done reasonably well in taking on this role. She featured in every game this season and contributed 2 goals and 1 assist for the team. Her ability to move forward with the ball has made her a threat to the opponent.

Joanne Lai has come a long way since she first joined. She has improved as a winger and has scored 1 goal and 1 assist. Though she took quite some time before getting her first point, this represents a start to something great in the future.

With 2 assists for the team, Amelia has shown potential and she will improved to become a better player. She managed to understand her role as a winger and play well in a few games as a winger. Her willingness to learn would help her grow as a player.

FORWARDS

As a forward, Sey Chee shows loads of potential to improve and become better. 3 goals are a sign of greater things to come. She is also a determined player and will go on to become a sharper forward.

Jing Feng has grown so much since she first became part of the team. Her fitness and aggression has helped the team many times. She also demonstrates determination on court while chasing down opponents. Considering how new she is to the sport, 4 goals and 3 assists are a sure indication of better things to come.

Missing almost half of the season due to an unjury sustained in one game, Eleanor has impressed with 5 goals scored in 6 games played. This makes her the third highest goalscorer in the team. She has shown that she is still a potent goalscorer in front of the goal.

The captain of the team, Yiwen, has performed well, scoring 10 goals in 11 matches. She has a never-say-die spirit on court and always put in her best while on court. She chases every ball and do her best in the game. She has good passes and shots what is beneficial for the team.

Shern is a great team player and has constantly made the effort to encourage her teammates and lead by example. Her tireless runs while on court makes her a threat to her opponents. She got 1 goal which was scored calmly and considering that she just started, this is impressive.

Annabel emerged as a shining light from last season and played in 10 matches, scoring 1 goal and 1 assist. She has improved since the last season and matured to become a better player. With more experience and training, she will be able to surpass her current standards in the future.

Scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists is Joanne Gay. For someone who is relatively new to the game, she has the aggression and skill to perform well. Faith got herself a beautiful assist during this league. She has become more aggressive and quicker against opponents and is not afraid to go in to challenge for the ball. If she continues to put in the effort, she will definitely be able to score a goal in the near future.

Connie changed her playing style over the season and became more aggressive to pressure her opponents. She did well as a forward for the team towards the end of the season. For Angel and Amy, this was their first league competition and for them to step up and play in a game is not easy. They have both done well in terms of the effort that they have put in.
