Sey Chee: The joy of scoring is the happy faces of my teammates!

Agape played a friendly match against Albatross on Saturday and Sey Chee was one of the players involved in the game. Agapefloorball.com caught up with her and she shares her thoughts about the game.

Agapefloorball.com: How did you find the game today against Albatross?

Sey Chee: I felt that today’s game was great! Despite the number of goals that we let in, it comforts me to hear the cheers from my team mates whenever our goalkeeper saved a goal or when someone in the team attempted a shot. This assured me that winning in terms of number of goals was definitely not everything – our objective was to gain more experience and enjoy ourselves. And I certainly did!

Agapefloorball.com: How did you find your line mates?

Sey Chee: To be honest, I did not really know my line mates prior to the game; it was only after playing as a line did I found out more about them. Despite the different levels of skills each of us possess, I felt that all of us were willing to listen to one another for suggestions and tried our best to work together as a line. Generally, it was a great experience playing with them and I certainly hope that there would be more chances for us to play together again!

Agapefloorball.com: How did you find playing as a forward today? And scoring the goal.

Sey Chee: Being the forward in my school team, I was rather lost when I started playing as the centre in the first period. After switching back to the role of a forward in the second period, I felt more comfortable and had more idea of what I should do. Of course, I’ve learnt more about what a centre should do and I hope that in the future, I would have the chance to try out different roles again so I do not limit myself to just being a forward.

The joy and excitement of scoring a goal is indeed indescribable. However, I must say that the goal was not scored by me alone – it was the team effort that made the goal possible, and the encouragements from the team mates off court certainly played a part too! I was really happy that our line managed to put in that goal, and the joy does not just come from the 1 point, but rather the happy faces of my line mates exclaiming ” We did it! ”

Agapefloorball.com: What are your plans and dreams for the team for this season?

Sey Chee: In terms of skills and techniques, I believe that the players in Agape are up to standard and will continue to improve with further trainings. However, I feel that most of us are still quite new to each other, and thus the team spirit isn’t really there yet. Floorball, being a team sports, requires understanding between each players in the team so that they can work together to play a good game. Thus, I hope that the players can get to know one another better and learn to play as a team more effectively so that we can put up a good fight this season and show others that we are indeed a team!

Agapefloorball.com: Any other feedback or comments about the game.

Sey Chee: In conclusion, I felt that this friendly match was a very good chance for us to come together as a team and learn to play with one another. Also, it gave us more on-court experience and allowed us to learn from the other team as well. I feel that we should have more friendly matches so as to give us more chances of playing together as a team.
